Bat Safety Disclaimer
Wood bats can break or splinter. Always inspect your bat before use, follow league and tournament rules, wear appropriate protective gear, and stop using any bat with cracks, loose grain, severe dents, or unusual sounds. Bat sizing and swing-weight tools provide general guidance only.
Before every game or cage session, walk through this short inspection: visually scan the entire barrel and handle for cracks, lifted grain, or dents; tap the bat against the ground to listen for hollow or unusual sounds; check the knob and cap are secure; replace worn grip tape; and confirm the bat carries any required certification mark (BBCOR, USA, USSSA, wood-bat tournament ink-dot).
If you see grain checks running the length of the bat, hairline cracks at the taper, or a soft spot at the contact point, retire the bat. Wood bats can fail explosively — splinters can injure the hitter, fielders, and bystanders.
Always follow protective gear rules at your league or tournament. Helmets, jaw guards, and protective screens exist for a reason. Pro Wood Bats does not certify any bat or league rule — when in doubt, consult your coach, umpire, or league office.
